He got drunk one night and woke up with a huge tattoo of Steve Ballmer in the middle of his chest. That's why we'll never see him in an open-collared shirt.

In the file menu, I now have an option (greyed out) for Transfer purchases from iPod...not sure what that means given you can't currently buy stuff direct from your iPod...and pretty sure it wasn't there in Itunes 6...sounds intriguing though!
Also - there a custom option for encoding rates from CD that takes you up to 320 kbps for AAC - can't remember that either in the previous version...

One thing that makes up for the lack of DDR on the QuickSilver (Feb 2002) is the 2Mb cache per chip compaired to the 1Mb on the new models.
By the sounds of it I'd say ur better off going with the Feb 2002 Quicksilver with all those extras. :)

The real deal on resolution independance, is that instead of the UI being made up of images, PDFs I believe, it will be drawn using vectors. so a OS can scale anything to any size, and it will never become pixalized, because it's being drawn fresh using math instead of images.
No, you can still use bitmaps. They just get scaled to whatever size. (Of course, they need to be reasonably high-res.) It's impossible to do anything other than really basic textures with just vectors.
Anyone who for some reason doesn't understand resolution independence just needs to know one thing: there isn't a downside. Don't worry about it. A lot of computer games are resolution independent these days (including the UI) and nobody freaks out about that, eh?

like i said i have the Transcend 400x 16gb card .. but it says that it is only 60mb/s read and 30mb/s write which is slow isnt it for a 400x card ?
your 233x card is prolly faster than my 400x .. i just wanna make sure i make the correct purchase .. i only have one right now but i am planning on picking up a 2nd one
also curious what cf card readers are you guys using ?? i need to pick one up and i dont really feel like spending 100+ for a firewire one

There's a very neat sense of creepiness to it. Especially because it's in a very unexpected environment. Whenever I see green and trees, I expect to see calm, peaceful stories. But this time, I'm greeted with a very odd entity.
The color and softness is spot on. Any sharper and he would've felt fake instead of dream-like. Any softer and it would've felt poorly done. I can also do without the bright spot in the middle. It really distracts the picture from the model.
I suspect you can execute this even better if you throw in more story into the shot and pick a different backdrop.

Based on the above drawings, this would be a disaster.
The interface is now clunky, crowded and unintuitive.
Biggest problem- take a look-it will require two hands to operate, thereby negating what every one else has been trying to imitate-the ease of use of the iPod scroll wheel.
Do you think Apple would include exact specs/layout/design in a patent application? The illustrations included are to convey the function ONLY. Not meant to represent their industrial design. Apple has filed a gazillion applications for patents. Some never see the light of day and NONE of them (that include illustrations) give any real visual clues to final designs.
That said, we all know Apple will put out something that looks and functions very well. It's what they do. I'm just hoping they do it in time for the holidays shopping season.

Hello MacRumors,
I'm very surprised that you had removed(or was it never there?) the breadcrumbs at the bottom of any forum page. I find this very counter intuitive.
By the time the user reach the bottom of a long thread page, I think the most common actions would be to either want to move to a different page of the same thread or to go back to the section page with listings of all the thread titles. In my case, I ALWAYS want to go back to the section page so I can select another thread to view. Currently... there is no breadcrumb at the bottom that I can quickly jump back out of the thread.
There's always the back button on the browser... However, that's practical only if the thread is single page(or I can even stand 2-3 pages, just a few more back clicks, right?). What if I've dwelved a good 10 or so pages into a long thread? Or I'm jumping around a REALLY long thread to try to find something? I would have to scroll all the way up just to find the breadcrumb at the top. Very annoying...
It may seem like a trivial thing and I'm nit picky... but imagine that this repeated annoyance happens nearly every time you view a multi-page thread... I realize that there is the "Forum Jump" menu, but that either requires 2 clicks or you must scroll... Why can't we have both? Jumping else where with "Forum Jump" or simply single click to jump back up a tree.
Also on a side note... your breadcrumb at the top of the forum page is broken in FireFox. The "trigger box" for the "MacRumors Forums" link is a huge box that overlays the next few items in the breadcrumb. Essentially, making the neighboring links useless because it would fire the "MacRumors Forums" link instead.
Please bring back the bottom breadcrumb... It's the most logical place to offer navigational links since the user is most likely done with reading and would like to browse else where.
Please fix the top breadcrumb when viewed in FireFox...
Thanks!

So with WMP gone and now VPC gone, the only MAJOR software developed for Macs by Microsoft is Office?
Let's just hope they don't decide to kill office. Sure, I know there are lots of alternatives out there, but you try telling that to Mr. idiot joe-average boss.
Edit: Looks like I spoke too soon, fortunately:

thanks for the reply!! :) another question about the graphic card... is AMD Radeon HD 6750M with 1GB GDDR5 of MBP15 good enough to render? I compared it with 2GB NVIDIA GeForce GT 540M graphics with Optimus of dell xps15. Which is better?
The 6750 noticeably outpaces the Gt540 in almost all benchmarks.

Wait if you can. Should possibly see a refresh around the time the iMac gets updated. Since it's for next school year, you have time.
