I'm a new T-Mobile customer - over from Nextel/Sprint. I find the coverage is very good. I'm not waiting for an iPhone though. Loving my new Blackberry Pearl (http://www.blackberrypearl.com) :p You know how with Apple products you marvel at the thought that went into every little detail? That's how it is with this device.
That's cause you're coming from nextel, which truly is worse that T-Mobile.

Aristo, as much as I'd like to pounce on that offer, I feel inclined to suggest you instead set up a SlingBox instead. You surely must have a family member in the states whose TV you can set this up on. The iPad app seems great, but you are confined to viewing on a 10" screen. With a slingbox you can view on your iPad, iPhone, computer and TV. I live in NYC and have a sling box set up at my father's house. I watch HDTV on my 40" Samsung -- On Demand and all that jazz -- for free.
The iPad Optimum is just an auxiliary service I want to set up as an alternative (and on a different TV, with a different cable plan, and in a different county--different programming).

I have been reading the last few posts about saving the 4.3.1 SHSH Blobs "before its too late" and I couldn't understand how it could ever be too late, after all, how can my iPad get updated with anything unless its connected to iTunes.
I looked at TinyUmbrella and it looks likes this only applies to 3G iPads.. Could someone confirm if this is the case? And if not, what I (as a non-3G iPad 2 owner) needs to do now..
Currently I am on 4.3 and am waiting for a working Jailbreak before I do anything else regarding firmware.
Jon
It applies to any iOS device.
You want to save your blobs in case you accidentally upgrade to an unjailbroken firmware and would like to revert to an older, jailbroken firmware. It's not 100% essential for everybody to do, but it's nice to have it as insurance.
If you want to save your 4.3.1 firmware, update to the latest TinyUmbrella (http://thefirmwareumbrella.blogspot.com/) and do so soon. I'm not sure if Apple is still signing it.

I need DVI.
Ah, I see. Do you have an asking price, I notice you said make an offer, but what are you looking to get for it?

As in an M0001, saying just 'Macintosh' on it so predating the launch of the 512k and the rebrand/slight internal redesign to make the 128k proper. This is a fully functioning machine, in all its original packaging, all manuals and all original disks and cassette tapes (including MacWrite and MacDraw).

Beyond that, I would try creating a new admin account (or logging in as one if you already have it) and using Software Update. It'd be an interesting test to see if the problem is relegated to your user or is a system-wide problem.
You know, I was going to try the new admin trick, but when I went to set one up, I could only create a standard user. I have to look at the help docs to see how to create a new admin. It was late and I was tired when I was trying to do this last night. I am still scratching my head over how it could have happened to both the laptop and desktop at about the same time.
Weird.
Thanks for your help,
Rob

Talked to security yesterday. They said we aren't allowed to form a line until 10pm. Though they said 4:00 for the iPhone launch and they started walking us in at 1:00.
A line can't be formed until 10 PM or 10 AM?

I absolutely loved all of today's announcements! iTV sounds AWESOME I personally think.
Some people are complaining that the videos aren't high enough in resolution, but it will take off as is. Think about this for a second. The quality of music in the iTunes store is not near CD, and the movies are "near DVD"....the public didn't mind on songs, and I HIGHLY doubt that joe shmoe down the street will care about his movies. For all he is concerned, he would think it looks as good as DVD...The average user WILL NOT notice that what, 80 pixel loss on the width. I commend Apple, and am awaiting to see exactly what the potential of iTV really is!
As a note: iTunes 7 downloads movies SLOOOOOOOOW, maybe because Apple servers are overloaded, i don't know? All I know is for National Treasure a 1.5GB file, should take 33 minutes and 33 seconds on a 6 megabit connection that we have here. (Obviously, actual speeds are not close to 6, but 2-3 is def. sustainable) Even at 2 megabits, it should take 100 minutes, which is not bad at all. BUT, It has been downloading since 6pm and it is now 11:26pm with an estimated 35 minutes left!!! Either Comcast is ripping us off or Apple's servers are maxed out (which I suspect, because my internet is running pretty quick)
EDIT:
Hmmm....maybe I have my number wrong. According to iTunes, it is downloading at 565kb/s How many kb is in one gb? The one site I looked at says 1,000,000kb = 1gb. And 1 megabit = 125kb....are those numbers right or was the site wrong?

I don't see what kind of order the nanos are in. Some one fill me in.
They're not in any order really. Like in The Matrix, they represent the data that is the matrix.

The cell companies lobbied HARD to not allow you to keep your number when you switch. The state legislature here (Calif) buckled 3 times.
You can thank "the government" for allowing you to keep your number when you switch. You can also thank "the government" for demanding that the companies improve their 911 protocols. People were sometimes
waiting 20 minutes to get connected. Also, blame "the government"
for requiring that the companies allow you a grace period to return your phone. They actually had to create a bill called "the cell phone bill of rights"
These actions did not create a huge costly layer of bureaucracy. Why do people think that corporations should be allowed to abuse people unhindered? After-all the market was/is not providing that many real choices. It's a cartel.
Bye the way, "the government" (in theory) is you.
We are lucky that sometimes government works for us. The state government here bowed to the mobile phone companies when municipalities wanted to enact laws banning using a phone while driving. They banned anyone but the state being able to create any laws concerning mobile phones.
Of course, I wouldn't want the government to have their own company--that would be haphazard and bizarre, though I don't think anyone would buy service from them, suspecting wire(less) tapping on all of their phones.

Hi everybody,
this is probably a question better asked on a Microsoft forum, but I fear to go to such places. ;)
So here's my dilemma... About year ago I bought a retail version of Windows 7 64-bit Professional and installed it on a Bootcamp partition of my 17" MacBook Pro. Then a month ago, in preparation for a house move/immigration, I decided to sell the machine and thus wiped the HD clean and reformatted and reinstalled OSX but left off the W7 partition, deciding to keep that myself.
However, the sale didn't go through and now the MBP is boxed up and in transit to my destination address. As is my W7 install disc...
So I find myself here, with a new Mac laptop, wanting/needing to install W7 once again (to run my license of Autodesk Softimage). Thankfully I added the W7 serial number to my 'Key chain' so I still have access to it. The question thus becomes; Is there some way to install W7 without having access to my original install disc? Can I download the install software somewhere? And how do I go about activating my license on my new machine?
Thanks for reading! :)

I have a mint condition, barely used original Airport card. nothing is occuping the card. Should I keep the card for a few years then try to sell and makes some big bucks because they are already rare? Or, should I just go sell now and make $130 or something like that.
Sorry if it doesn't sound right or punctuation is wrong... I just woke up :o

I can't say I'm not surprised, but I'm glad we have other options (that run well) at this time. I just hope this doesn't carry over to Microsoft Office (which has a separate Mac team from Vista I understand)

I could never figure out what the problem was with the screen margins. Look how the last letter in "Marketplace" is cut off. This drove me insane when I first saw this image - I thought it was a beta screen. But this was how it shipped apparently. I've noticed the same thing happen in some of the WinPhone7 screen shots and product demos. Can anyone explain this to me? What were the designers thinking?

Small Problems...
Along with 100 people I wish we could find a way to move the 'smaller' adds down and stop wasting all of that space!
:(
Tho on some of the adds I have found... Are small... but SOMEHOW then Expand with this weird White Background... for no reason (see pic below)
Also I just noticed... on the about page (http://www.macrumors.com/site.php?mode=about) MacRumors offers reasonable rates for Banners, Buttons, and other custom ads for vendors.
