And a lingual question - why the use of the word 'prefecture' all the time? As in Chiba prefecture, why not just Chiba? Isn't it unecessary, like saying 'Caifornia state' or 'Los Angeles city/county' all the time?I believe that most if not all of the prefectures are named after their capital, so using the term helps define the difference between the city and its surrounding area.

I don't know how or when it will happen but I long for a day when people themselves outgrow religion. Not governments banning it, but people learning their way past it. I know this idea may be upsetting to some but it will happen eventually and the stubborn clingers on will only look crazy. Sorry to say that many already do.
I agree (with the rest of your post too) except I think France is doing this the wrong way. A hardline rule is just going to make people entrenched and create pockets of extremism (like the Amish in the US).
My ideal solution would be outreach to Muslim women (or really any women that are more susceptible to brutish practices) to help them find their own path to the modern world.

Well, we made it to close without losing the whole lot. Tomorrow should be interesting and now the stumps have come up I can finally go home!

If you have to ask, then the answer is probably no.
I thought it was supposed to be easier to use and one didn't have to be a pro to use it.

A whole year Later ?
Whats the point?
Shouldn't we be seeing the 5 by now?
Obviously not.
The point is, Apple doesn't need to release the iPhone 5 yet. They think can keep wooing us with a third iteration of the iPhone 4.

This only means 1 thing, the iPhone mini is comming!
Why do an event to launch only 1 product when you can launch 2? I hope to see the new iPhone5 and a new, cheaper, iPhone mini or iPhone C (from cheap) ;)

Biggest problem with Veloster: it needs a more powerful engine. Maybe Hyundai will see it fit to install the 173 bhp 2.4-liter I-4 found on the current Kia Forte, which would give the Veloster a needed performance boost. :)

Don't worry. They will do it by Thanksgiving at the latest. Top speed will remain 2GHz. But battery life will be doubled. :p
Little doubt Apple buys their processors "Just-In-Time" so there is no stockpile of obsolete processors to deplete. Mini will get Core 2 as well by Thanksgiving.
Well... I'll still have to worry, since I absolutely *must* have the MacBook on the 29th October, at the latest ;) . I'm leaving to Granada on a 6-month Erasmus interchange, and there's NO WAY I'm buying a MacBook with a spanish keyboard (nor will I get it only on my christmas vacation, and besides, or won't be as easy to have it shipped there)... On the other hand, the VAT in Spain is MUCH lower than in Portugal... I know this is totally off-topic, but do you know if it's easy to change a MacBook keyboard layout? :D

Yes that is true but by then, that technology is out dated. The reason new technology is expensive is because its...well new
You are right. However, Apple continued to use the G4 in lots of products while still selling other G5 based products.

The only benefit to transcoding prior to effects/grading would be to aid system performance. It will not result in better image quality.
But doesn't AVCHD work in a way where some frames are estimated similarly to how HDV gets estimated frames? So if we were to apply effects to it, such as Color Correction, what we see may not be what we get when we export - thus by converting it to Pro Res before applying any sort of effects, you would result in more accurate effects rendering when it comes outputting a file out. However, if AVCHD doesn't work the way I thought it works (by using frame estimation), then I guess it saves a step in the process...

Arrested. Not just terminated or fired. ARRESTED. Anyone hoping to catch a leak of next iPhone can keep on dreaming. This only proves that all the speculation from "trusted sources" is a bunch of c**p. Apple has gotten even more secretive and they're serious about it.

The only thing interesting in this thread is Steve Jobs' health, god bless he is in good condition, hope you get well Steve, and I hope you will feel better in the future and not have any health issues any more.
BTW, Jobs is not interested in peoples location, the media just hypes everything up and if you want absolute privacy, go live in a bunker.
Good point - privacy absolutely isn't important. But you living in London already know that, right?
****ing idiot.

Garmin is finally finished with their Training Center (http://garmin.blogs.com/my_weblog/2006/12/to_mac_owners.html) program for the Mac. It will be available on CD at their booth and downloadable from their website in late January. I would rather not wait until late January, so I'd be happy to paypal someone a couple dollars to ship a CD to me if you happen across the Garmin booth.
Thanks!
Thanks!

Love the new design. My only complaint is that it is not really convenient as a flash drive any more since you have to carry around the dock with you.

I think most consumers do not know carbon because they never had something like a racing bicycle made of it.
Many people will think apple has made the product worse or is just trying to safe costs when they see a carbon MacBook for the first time because they think it is "plastic" and not something high tech.
Christian
I couldn't disagree more. Apple is a master of marketing, its what makes them so successful. They could sell a computer made out of glass if they wanted to and I'm sure the consumers would just gobble it up.
And besides, apples target market is, lets be honest, the richer more educated portion of the world. Point being, if you can afford to lay down $1,000+ for a computer, I'll gamble that you've at least heard of Carbon Fiber.

It seems to me that this trend can be seen in most universities. A friend of mine works at the campus computer store, which is an offical apple reseller, and he sees this at work. He says that out of the stores notebook sales approx. 1/5 to 1/4 are macs.
On another note i'm in my first year now and i, as well as some of my friends, bought laptops this year. A good 10 out of 15 or so are macs, 3 mbps and the rest mbs.

I'm more interested in the potential for iPhoto for iPad - i use Aperture on my Mac, but frankly anything has got to be more useful than the built-in Photos app that the iPad is stuck with at the minute.

Well, it looks like google won the smartphone battles. I kinda thought it would happen, just nowhere near this fast.
We'll have to see if they can spin android success into tablet success, too. I wouldn't be surprised.
