I heard about that...interesting. I have never hacked or jail breaked a phone from any manufacturer and don't intend to. So that isn't an issue for me. At least you can hold the DroidX anyway you like and still make a call as well as set up a mobile hotspot...two things you can't do on an iPhone4.
Girl,
I just talked to my boyfriend last night without a bumper holding it that way for an hour and half, and so did he. We didn't have no issues at all. I think that ms. verizon and ms.google have done paid off ms. consumer reports to give a bad rating. Convient timing for the droid x release, uh humm. I would like to find someone with a legitimate problem. Blackberry's, nokia's, etc all do the same, so they should have bad rattings too.

Found this on Wikipedia's page on aluminum:
...aluminium hydroxide is caustic and hydrogen is explosive when mixed with air.
Wikipedia's also got a really great page on the uses and abuses of Magnesium: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Magnesium

This. I hate having to charge my phone after minimal usage every damn night.
Without more details I say there is an issue at your phone you should have a Genius look at.

Better value is the sum of Hardware + Operating System + Software = Performance
Paper spec used to interest me at one time too, then I grew up. ;)
Best fit depends on need, and what's available.
In terms of the hardware, Macs are using the same commodity components every other computer is built of, so there's no "special sauce" in that regard.
As per software, Apple doesn't develop that much. So most is 3rd party, and subject to the same developmental compromises that are made on any other platform (set goals on function/features and how to utilize development time that's within budget to generate them).
Depending on your needs, the OS may even be dictated by the software choices, as well as things like needing all the software to run on a single OS (i.e. VM not viable for whatever reason). For example, you want to run 3 software suites, and only one is even available under OS X. But they may have one OS in common, and booting between multiple OS's is a PITA.
So the real work is not in the writing of a book, but in the printing?
You're saying clusters are needed to write books? What are you smoking?
Books can be written on desktops, laptops, netbooks, or tablets. Smart phones too, if someone has indestructible fingers. :p

Does it fix the mute button? maybe its just mine but it vibrates when I switch it both ways and some doesn't vibrate when switched to silent.
Hmm.. Mine does that as well but I thought that was a result of the latest jailbreak... Could be wrong... Anyone?

Now now, calling Budweiser a beer is a stretch as it is and calling it a lager is an insult to any properly brewed lager out there. Like someone else in this thread stated before it's a cheap diluted ricewine with hops added for something pretending to be taste. As for Chimay, never had it but if it is in the same range of products as that .... stuff.... from Anheusser operates in, it probably isn't a belgium ale either.....
Cheers,
Ahmed
Oh I agree... I merely saying it for the sake of saying it since it was being discussed that is all. Couldn't agree more!

I assume you're reading the chart wrong. The new i5 is faster than the old i7, even though the i7 has hyperthreading but the i5 doesn't. That's pretty huge. It doesn't look like the new i7 has been benchmarked yet.
Based on what? Are there benchmarks out for the new i7 yet?
I do agree with you that it doesn't make sense for most people to upgrade from the previous generation, but I tend to feel that way about sequential updates in general. But this does look like it has the potential to be a nice improvement, and I think the TB ports allow the new machines to compete with the MPs in some ways they never have before.
The processor in the latest 27 inch iMac is the same sandy bridge 2400 core i5/ 2600 locked i7 that's been out for awhile now. There are tons of benchmarks all over the net.
Edit:
Heres a link comparing gaming performance:
http://www.anandtech.com/show/4083/the-sandy-bridge-review-intel-core-i7-2600k-i5-2500k-core-i3-2100-tested/20
It is faster, but nothing explosive that deems the first generation of core i5 / i7 out-of-date / they can't compete. Its just a marginal increase in speed. So it comes down to are you happy with 100 fps, or do you really want 120 fps? Is it worth a $2,800 upgrade to replace the former top of the line iMac for the new top of the line iMac.
Really, I only see it worth it for those on the former Core2Quads/Duo's.

 I'm really puzzled what you people see good at this. This is pure *****.
Apple took the best small flash-based player in the world and made it the worst. With direct USB plug, you had amazing portability, still had MP3 player and good take it wheever you want. I regularly used to transfer small files from/to work, exchange files with friends etc.
With this, I would need to carry that stupid dock as well.
So it still has no screen at all, now has no USB as well, but it has the hinge. Wow.
The worst piece of "design" ever offered by Apple. Probably designed by a person that never actually used Shuffle in real life.
I have an 1st generation shuffle and an black 4G Nano. Love both, each for its own settings (Nano on long trips, shuffle on short ones and lab-work). However, I used to have the shuffle in my shirts pocket with the effect that whenever I am bending over to pick something up or so it falls out. So, I love the hinges - and it got smaller too. Granted, no dock (would have been nice) but I usually use a Memory stick anyway so no real loss here (and I still have my old shuffle).:p

Very wrong there and that will only cause more problems. They do have the right to confiscate it. Just give it up and get it back at the end of the day but don't bring it back again.
Schools always have police around so it could easily be taken away but why would a school have the right to take something away. I never had this problem in college but in high school they tried to take my iPhone and I wouldn't let them. I said they have no right to take it, they called the police down to the class I was in but by the time they arrived the school days just barely ended. Everything turned out ok.

Flight for San Fran leaves tomorrow mid-morning. I booked pretty late so the wait didn't really kill me. In fact, I'm a little surprised how fast the time passed. I'll be through Wednesday and then it's the red-eye back.
Still no option on the keynote though. If anyone has the "means" to get me in, drop me a line. 8-)

Or...would the new Zune release coverage put the new iPod release in the back of the newspaper? Not sure which way it would go...
I'm quite sure of which way it would go. Are you a betting man?

Didn't they do something like this with the eMac when it first came out? It took them a while to release that eventually to the public. My guess is what happened is that they relized that there was a lot of demand for these amongst students and teachers and got worried that they wouldn't have enough to supply the schools. Lets face it, in terms of educational markets landing a school is a big deal. Losing a few individual sales is not. The institutional deals are where the money is in education. Conisdering that its now July and summer vacation there may be a number of schools in the process of upgrades.
Either way, I really do feel it is time for Apple to drop their prices not raise them like they have with their entire product line. Most of the world is not made of money, in particular small businesses. Apple really needs to start thinking about that market. the eMac worked really well for small businesses. $800 for an all-in-one. Now you can get a headless mini for $800 add in a monitor and a keyboard and mouse and you're creeping up on $1,000. It's really hard for an IT person to convince the boss to buy a new $1,000 computer when they see eMachines at Walmart for under $500. Sure Apple's are better than an eMachine, but does someone who will be word processing and browsing the internet really need a core duo, isight, etc. etc. etc.

Oooohhh.. 8 seems like a big number!! :) Is it mm circumference or just.. numbers someone decided on?
Ah, a labret.. I learned that word freshman year.. then the girl with the labret piercing squirted grape juice at me through the hole.
OMG freaky, but she' first chair at Oberlin now, so I guess she can labret-squirt anyone she wants now, 'cause she's principal bass at OBERLIN her freaking junior year. (just... DAMN! I mean.. DAYMN!)
Dude, those look so cool! I wish I could have one and not look like a stupid goob. :(
guess you haven't seen the pictures i put up in the Macrumors Pics!! Thread LoL.....
the way the gauges work is weird, smallest is 20, but your most common is 18, the lower the number the bigger the size. its weird, i know. i can't squirt anything through my labret, its only a 14.... maybe if it was 12 or bigger. so 2 would be a bit more than double what i have now...
here is what a quick search turned up Linky (http://www.tribalectic.com/SizingInfo.asp)

Things sure are quiet over in camp Apple...
With the influx of new mobile phones/carriers and mp3 players recently flooding the market, I can't help but think any (Tues)day now, Apple is gonna drop the BOMB.

I loved the first Portal and The Orange Box, but $50 for Portal 2 seems kind of steep to me.
That was exactly my concern! Portal 2 was a cheap, pack-in game that was finished in 3 hours. A fun 3 hours, but 3 hours. I'm currently 1 hour into Portal 2 and it's of a much higher quality. The puzzles and environments are more varied and there's a lot more story going in. I'd put the story structure and build-up on par with Half Life 1, not Portal 1.
It's a good game so far. Can't wait to crack on with co-op mode.
For those with old computers - it runs very well on my iMac x1600 (under Windows). I'm using ATI Tray Tools to overclock my GPU to 472mhz (core+mem) and I get between 40-60fps at 1280*720, everything set to medium with triple buffered v-sync. Looks nice. Loads fast.

There were rumors a while ago that the new chip maker would continue making the older the A4 chips, while Samsung the A5's. My guess is that there will be two new iPhones. One very similar to the iPhone 4 without the glass back as the cheaper model. And the all new 4" screen A5 iPhone with a somewhat higher price tag than today's iPhone 4.

Actually its not a bad deal that it came out now.
There are likely people waiting for contracts to run out before getting an iphone. People waiting to switch to Verizon for instance. Now they have the option of a white iphone. The iphone 5 will likely be out late fall or early spring. But the iphone 4 is quite a good phone.
Look unless you are constantly chasing the latest and greatest then you are going to miss every other iphone model. I have the iphone and by the time my contract runs out I will likely be getting the iphone 6. I will miss the iphone 5.

So much for buying the 80gb / 512 version and upgrading it to my hearts desire (for less of a cost for buying th normal entry model).
