why do you want to use asp.net and take the extra cost in sql server and windows 2003...
The main reason is that I already have a lot of .NET code that could be useful for web development. I'm not using windows or sql server though. I'm trying out Mono's ASP .NET and I've already ported some of my code to Mono and to MySql. But in spite of this, I don't have much experience with web apps so I would feel much better if I could take a look at what other people have already done. I have decent-enough skills to build the shopping cart, but I've no clue about security issues, so that I would like to learn.

As bad or as good as this seems, it is not going to affect the everyday iTunes/iPod user. Who just wants to buy his/her music and be done with it. Itunes has proved to be a very successful model for this. This FairPlay will only affect those of us who bother with looking stuff up, Downloading new programs, Tweaking the properties, and Then readjusting all of our files.
Not something I see the masses interested in doing.

Reply 1: Who cares? How many Netflix downloads are free movies? BFD.
Reply 2: Nonsense. You can adjust the font, the size, the background color and the brightness. I'm surprised you didn't trot out the "backlit screen hurts your eyes" myth as well.
You just keep trying. Maybe one day, many years from now when information is streamed to our brain implants and displayed on our artificial corneas, Apple will fail to sell a single iPad and you will declare "I told you it was going to be a massive FAIL."
1)The who cares line...love it...great reply.
2)The nonsense you speak of is why Amazon is killing the iPad as an e-reader. Don't believe me? Go read the tens of thousands of comments about how hard it is to read a book (not a website....not an email...a book) on an iPad.
We have both an iPad 1 and Kindle. Absolutely no comparison for reading books...iPad just stinks.
Who said anything about fail? You need to ease up and stick to the comments otherwise you look like a fool. Too late I guess.

Hi, I run Snow Leopard natively on my MBP, and have installed Windows 7 on bootcamp.
So, i boot into Win7 and i can read files on my Mac partition but i cant edit/ write to them.
I was wondering if there was any way to edit/write files on Mac partition while being in Win7 partition.
I've done my search and found MacDrive to be an option, but it costs a lot where i'm from. Are there any free alternatives?
Thanks :)

People seem to keep forgetting:
E911 support on cellphones is handled via a built in GPS receiver. Usually users don't know its there, and cannot access it.
E911 on GSM phones is handled by triangulation at the towers. GPS is not a component common to most GSM phones and certainly not a part of the standard (E911 wouldn't work with older or imported phones if they relied upon GPS.)
I think GPS is, IIRC, built into IS-95 ("CDMA") in some form, as phones have to have some idea of where they are for the system to work (GSM is more "I can hear a tower, I'll talk to that. Ooops! It's complaining I'm too loud, I'll lower my power level", that kind of thing. Very laid back and easy going. Nice.)
This sounds like the iPhone.
E911 GPS: Check
GSM: Check
Music: Check
Camera: Check
Not huge news. The only thing it tells us is the limitation most providers put in place regarding what the GPS is available for is removed.
Well, not really. It looks more like a more general purpose mobile device than a phone. It might have phone functionality, but I doubt that'll be its primary purpose.

I think the difference here is, with deCSS, once it was out there it was out there - DVDs, as physical objects, were beyond the reach of the studios, and all the various players/drives that were out there made it impossible to do anything about it for DVDs.
With FairPlay though, Apple can 'update' purchased music anytime users download a newer version of iTunes to make sure FairPlay keeps going for anyone who wants to keep buying from the iTunes Music Store.
iTunes update on Tuesday? :p

Do me a favor. If you don't already have it turned on, turn on Dock magnification and move your mouse pointer slowly across the icons. See how they scale smoothly, and yet don't look like crap? Those icons are 256x256 bitmaps. Its all about doing things properly.
Thank you. Sometimes you explain things until you are blue in the face but people still don't get it until they see an example.
Even people that know the difference between vector and bitmapped graphics have the misconception that screen resolution indepenence depends on vector images. I don't think they are aware of where the GPU technology has gone in the last few years.
It won't be long and we will be rendering all graphic displays lke 3D game engines with virtual worlds and holographic displays.

Edit: I didn't read the replies before writing this. Exactly what they said above. I am also not a developer so I like pure CSS and avoid scripting.
This is wat I do. Give the current page's relative list item a specific class called "current" or whatever and then style that class accordingly. see:
<ul>
<li class="current">Page 1</li>

I went to the 3G launch at cpw at teesside park. Queue was about 20/30 people at 7am. It opened at 8. If you know it it went from cpw down to brantano. Sold out of 16gbs about half way through the queue.
I think the town centres will be less popular and should be a better bet if you really want a particular model. Plus there's more shops - I think mbro still has two o2's and a cpw?
I hope it's easier this time as I don't fancy another early start. Hopefully other carriers will have it on thursday too to dilute the queues

if the bezels have touch sensitive areas, wouldnt that be hard to just hold the ipod without accidently hitting one of the 238934843 areas?
From what I understood.. the sides aren't touch sensitive. It's just showing on the screen where it's touch sensitive, kind of like the x and y axis on a graph...

Isn't the graph misleading? Is it 400 thousand units or 400 million units?
Edit: They've changed the legend of the graph. It's correct now. Nevermind.

I'm sitting here in Starbucks watching my friend install Leopard on his MacBook Pro. I will be buying mine at my school for $69. Horray for being a student!
Do you attend UNT? The bookstore should have them in by monday- apparently Apple "overnighted" them this morning... I'm still crossing my fingers and hoping for Saturday.
