That has got to be one of the most irrelevant features I have ever heard of. If there is some sort of Multi-Function device Apple is working on, I sure hope there are more OS X integration instances than iPhoto / Google GPS syncing.

Interesting, yes. Neat, yes. Useful... not really. Apple does have a tendency to turn what we usually see as irrelevant into something we almost nearly rely on (I can't imagine a week at work without my iPod).

Why don't you search eBay completed auctions instead of having people guess here?
    Exactly.

Also bear in mind as with all auctions it is only worth what someone is willing to pay for it at close of sale and on eBay that usually means as little as possible. ;)

    Be realistic in your expectations.

I'm getting horrible flash performance in full screen. using latest version of Flash from adobe.com and in 1080p resolution

This is a recent thing, about a month or so.

i've tried unchecking hardware acceleration, still horrible. Jumping video and lag. Is there anything I can do?? I've used the mac mini to watch tv online, streaming nhl games, soccer, etc. And now it's unwatchable!! Help!

    Thanks
    david

    Run Disk Utility
    Run Cron Scripts
Delete user cache files not the cache folder
Delete the Flash Cache files from your preference folder.

    Restart. See if that works.

    Cheers

There is some cool technology/dreaming being shown there..... but, I am Not going to use any technology to check my work schedule while I'm brushing my teeth. My work day does not start until I'm done with my morning, um, ablutions - I don't care how important the meeting or cool the technology.

I like the idea of putting your smart phone down to activate the table top displays. It bypasses the insecurity of having a room full of people watch you type your credentials. It also defines the initial area of display. If the default setting (perhaps set in the phone?) is, for eg, that the phone defines the top right corner then both the table top display know what the other wants.

I wouldn't want to read a book on something with the weight of a few sheets of paper. Too shaky (hand-shake). A book's weight uses inertia to absorb these very minor tremors. They may be minor, but they are fatiguing if you are trying to hold a page up for extended reading.

It would probably be hard to tell the difference because it's 320 kbps MP3. Having said that, most of my music library is still in lossless.

In Canada it's $50-$55, but you're SOL if you have greymarket phone like me. I have a Rogers phone and have never had a contract with them, even though I've been a subscriber to their discount brand Fido for 5 years they won't unlock it.

It's a 3GS so it's a little easier to take things into my own hands.
I've had 3 iPhone 4's unlocked by Rogers, 2 of which were under contract. It is against their internal policies, but it partly depends on the rep you get. For the second phone I got one that was so confused (policy was only a week old) that I was able to convince him the policy allowed me to be unlocked and so he did.

Note though that FAT drives have file size limits of 4 gigs - in other words, no one single file can be 4 gigs or larger meaning that some files will have to be split up.

    hahaha. freaking awesome

    KDE's Digikam already supports GPS-mapping

well i guess no one else should do it, improve on it, etc, then eh? i'm still pissed at apple for wasting its time on final cut pro when adobe premiere already existed for the same market

dXTC likes this too. If my budget would allow it, I'd get a MBP right now. Then again, if my budget was the size of Woz's, I'd already have a couple of them. (And a new iMac and a Mac Mini Server for my iTunes library and...) :)

Let's hope AT&T improves their service to match Verizon by the time iphone 5 is released.

Dropped iPhone Calls Really Are an AT&T Thing (http://www.fool.com/investing/general/2011/04/17/dropped-iphone-calls-really-are-an-att-thing.aspx)

Sprint will likely get the iphone 5. I wonder how good their service is?

I'll tell you what I've told everybody, this is not an AT&T problem. I have the Atrix and I have NEVER dropped a call in Saint Louis. My wife's Samsung Focus never has dropped a call in six months either. My friend has the iPhone 4 and another has the 3GS in Saint Louis and they CONSTANTLY cannot connect Call Failed or drop calls.

    It's the iPhone man.

[QUOTE=globalhemp]Yeah and Disney is shut down the service after 8 months with little or no interest in the service. And is going to cost them $30 million to shut it down. As a Disney and Apple sharehold I think it is a bad business model to be in.
    Shutting down eh?

I would have thought that if Apple was getting into the MVNO business, they'd have been better off doing a joint venture with Disney. Ah well. Which network is Disney using anyway?

I don't know maybe because prior to January every consumer machine shipped since about 1990 has come with a consumer productivity suite and maybe I don't apple to lose sales because of sure stupidity. And yes iWork is like MS works. It is not an office suite, it was never meant to be, and it never will be one. It is the replacement for Appleworks. Hence the name iWork instead of Work Pro. Apple is smart enough to realize that it can't beat Microsoft in the office environment.

For the same reason the iLife suite is bundled with every Mac system -- to get people using them, and in the habit of buying the upgrades. I don't understand why Apple thinks this strategy works for iLife but not for iWork. Very short-sighted.

    (1) Not even close to every machine ships with a productivity suite... in fact, if you look closely at what you're paying for when you buy most PC machines, those products that "ship standard" with your fancy new PC are built into the price. Most customizable online shops (Dell, et al.) allow you to remove that software and lower the price. So obviously, they are not free.

    (2) iWork is undoubtably being groomed as a direct competitor to Office. There's no disputing that. It CURRENTLY is a replacement for AppleWorks, because it's still young and undeveloped in places, but it would be insane for Apple not to try and pursue part of the Office marketshare. It's an untapped resource, and frankly the Office programs are not very well constructed (with the exception of Excel). Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint are pretty lousy, and while Access is solid, it's certainly not leaps and bounds better than (PageMaker) <-- EDIT: Sorry, meant FileMaker.

    (3) Bundling software, and then looking for profit on the backend with upgrades is a reasonable answer to the question. There's something to be said for that. But in the end, I think you're comparing Apples and Oranges. While at current, iWork is undeveloped, it is (as I said) being groomed to be a full suite of productivity Apps. iLife is a wonderful package of Apps, but they do not replace Pro Apps. iPhoto is garbage compared to Aperture or Photoshop. Pages is certainly not garbage compared to Word, and Keynote is already a much better App than PowerPoint. So I think there's a flaw in the argument here...

My university's tech department uses several of THESE (http://www.newertech.com/products/charger_cond.php) to charge their library loaner Macbook batteries between checkouts. I asked them about it once as I was having the need to keep two batteries charged. Said that it helps with conditioning as well.

    Thanks, that looks really interesting.

This is a really short sighted and black and white viewpoint.

    1. Even games that are better with physical controls can be implemented to still be fun on the iphone. Sure, they probably are just going to be ports over from other devices (hey, let's see if we can pick up a few more sales), but they still are fun to play (I've played Assassin's Creed and Prince of Persia on my phone. Both are fun and easy to get over the only having a virtual joystick).

    2. Shortsighted because this completely ignores the fact there are many games that you really don't need physical buttons or the gameplay is actually better using something else:
